Clutter Cleanse: The Cleansening

As I sat down yesterday to clean up my work desk I decided I finally put some finalizing touches on a number of things which had stalled (something I'm trying to avoid).  I'll be finishing up even more stuff in the next few days if possible.

Some poorly painted Black Scorpion town folk re-based.  I debated repainting them, but I can't be bothered.

Some Avatars of War "Slayers" I did up for potential future use with Mordheim - my buddy has expressed an interest so I'm going to assemble 15-20 Dwarf models to run an adventure party if needed.

A slightly modified Librarian.  This is the same cheap plastic Dark Vengeance starter figure with a new axe and a jump pack.  I was too tight-fisted to spend $12-15 on a real metal librarian, though I may do so in the future if I find one for a good enough price.  For now this guy will carry the duty.

This is a Warhammer progress shot for January, 2017.  You'll note the added support weapons, pirates, vyper-stand-in, White Seer and all of the marines along the bottom.

Terminators!

I have salvaged the eBay terminators and speed-painted them.  Now I have two full squads - meaning I can even tackle the odd game of Space Hulk, etc.  In fact, between terminators and scouts I can tackle most of the old GW board games.

Sand Smurf Terminators!

More metal!

A couple of eBay wins showed up and are in the process of being recovered.  Oddly my eBay wins are determining the force-nature of my Space Marine army.  At the moment it looks to be all Terminators and Scouts, and very few marines!

Techmarine!

Trying to wrap up the special characters for my 2nd ed. Marine force.  In order to run almost any vehicle in a 2nd ed. army you needed to include a Techmarine in your list, so here he is.  Plastic/metal kit-bash.

More Marines!

Finished another squad of Space Marine Scouts and a Chaplain with a jetpack.

Shotguns heyo!

So, I've finished one of the Scout eBay rescue squads.  It was only after purchasing/painting these guys that I looked up the stats and they're simply terrible for 2nd ed. (much better in 3rd+).  Oh well.  I'll equip these guys with krak grenades or hope they can land a few shots with their shotguns and knock over some models?

One big draw with the Space Marine metal scouts is that the sculpts are freakin' fantastic (really top quality stuff) and they serve really well as generic science fiction troopers for a variety of settings.

The White Lady

Since reading Gav Thorpe's "path" novels I discovered an excuse to model one of my favourite "middlehammer" sculpted Farseers.  Using a Dark Eldar head I made up this "White Seer".

Pirates, a Sergeant and his Metal

Finished up another quick batch of pirates.  I don't like these nearly as much as the first batch (because the first batch as my favourite of the minis!).  But, I now have enough for a full squad of 10 pirates (including a pirate captain).  Also finished up the sergeant for the terminators.

Also received a few small eBay auctions to supplement the marine force.

A chaplain...and I forgot he was the Death Company one so I'll have to cover up or ignore one or two "Blood" icons.
I chose some Scouts because I wanted to run a versatile force, and because Space Marine scouts make excellent "generic" Sci-fi troopers for various skirmish games.
I don't recall shotguns being very good in 2nd edition, but why not?

Late arrivals.

These two figures showed up from eBay today.  As of the time of posting this they've already been stripped down and and re-based/primed etc.  Will be running the Farseer as a female White Seer (who the Pirates will act as bodyguards for).

Outcasts

I had considered doing up some Pirates for my Eldar army when I started (in fact, if models present themselves I might do some Exodites too!).  The advantage to Pirates is that they become a catch-all for leftover models.  They can be armed with quite a variety of gear (not necessary to match) and are lead by a Pirate Captain, a character who gets more wargear cards than normal because of his pilfering occupational benefits.

Here are the first five of a ten man Pirate unit.  They may also double as bodyguards for a White Seer I'm considering.

Opfor.

I've been meaning to assemble a small secondary 40K force for playtesting 2nd edition games, and simply for photo bad guys for my Eldar.  I decided to assemble and paint some plastic Terminators I had laying around.  This is a real speed painting effort...and sadly my dip thickened and became pretty bad when I was dunking these guys.  The sergeant will follow (I was missing a last 30mm base).

No idea for the chapter name, but a small force (a few characters, a vehicle or two, and two or three squads of infantry) might be in the cards.

2017 begins! (Eldar)

First work of 2017, the four gun crew for the support platforms I painted last week.
