Siege of Augusta 2024!

Got back from Siege of Augusta yesterday.  Managed to run 15 games over the two days, five of each: Shoot N' Skedaddle, Scrapheap, and Caverns, Crypts, & Catacombs.

Had a lot of fun, lost my voice, and got to introduce the games to a lot of people.  I forgot to take many pictures, but I gathered several from other convention-goers.

It was the most busy Siege of Augusta I've attended (I've gone maybe 5-6 times in the past 10 years).

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, though many had complaints about the hotel which is slowly becoming more run-down each year.

Some Famine, Sword, & Fire...and some games!

In the past week, I finally put some finishing touches on some units to use in a fantasy version of Famine, Sword, & Fire.

I'm not overly chuffed with the giant or the ogres, but the orcs turned out pretty good.

In addition, got a playtest game of FSF in last week, as well as several games of CCC (the dungeon crawl).

A smattering of randos...

Finally got some pictures of stuff I've been painting the past few weeks.  Not the best pictures, but good enough to log them.

Up first is a set of 15 Oathmark Orcs to replace my metal minis from the dungeon crawl.  They're not as a bulky or characterful, but having more plastic minis makes running games easier - particularly at conventions.

The new model was a 3D print I picked up for use as a dungeon crawl baddie.

More...and more scatter. Nonstop scatter.

I may not have painted as many miniatures as I normally do by this point in the year, but the "year of terrain" continues.  This is more scatter for the as-yet-secret terrain project.

I was so happy with the Wizkids stuff from the other week that I picked up some more - and I have even more to paint!  They really make excellent stuff for ancients and fantasy settings --- even if I prefer to repaint them to bring them tonally inline with my other terrain.

More stuff for the farmsteads and similar settings.
Some interior details and stuff I'll probably use in the dungeon crawl along with ancients and the fantasy skirmishes.
Some 3D printed fantasy scatter my buddy sent to me a while ago.  Actually put them under something, and forgot about them!

Games!; Caverns, Crypts, & Catacombs

After many moons of not playing my own game, we decided to play the dungeon crawl yesterday - running three games through the same mega-dungeon.

Descending into the tavern's basement, we discover it's connected to a large underground network.
Without the crowns to bribe the Troll we decide to run past it and make for the exit.
A horde of goblins waiting for us.
We stumble upon some rather obscene ritual.
Slowly stacking all the dead bodies as the quests continue...
Nearly meeting our end when we get jumped by cave spiders and an angry Cockatrice
The aftermath of the gaming.
Escaping the other tavern room (which happens to be on fire...) we stumble into way too many bad guys for our wounded party.
A vampire, an undead knight and orcs...while we're almost dead?  Hard pass.
Another view of the party being ambushed by cave spiders.
Oh, ambushed on the stairs before entering the dungeon?  Sure why not. Momma spider gotta eat.
Hacking our way through a pile of zombies.
Descending them slippery slopes.
Alright, who woke the angry dead ghost guys?
We wait to ambush a goblin party headed our direction.
The Dwarf takes a swing from the angry Troll because only the Dwarf was slow enough to get caught.
The party fighting a group of goblins and orcs.
Orcs give the party a pretty serious hammering before they're dealt with.
Kicking in a door to find orcs and goblins waiting on us.
The first chamber of the quest and we find out we're not the only ones searching for the missing child.
