Games!: 40K, 8th Edition

Got in a game of normal 40K tonight vs. my buddy John and his impossible-to-beat Dark Angels.

I actually won the game by driving hard to the scenario objective (and fleeing the table...effectively).  A somewhat silly game, but fun regardless of the minimal casualties.

A strong finish for May!

Finally got off my ass and made some forward hobby progress.

I scrounged around and found just enough leftover bits to do another seven man Plague Marine squad, and I slapped together five Games Workshop skeletons to add to the seven I did a month or two ago (12 seems a good number for dungeon crawl baddies).

Slowly stumbling along...Negavolt Cultists

I assembled and primed these guys several months ago when I picked up Blackstone Fortress.  When that game turned out to be a bit of a dud (just not terribly interesting), I let these guys sit on the desk forever.  In the rush to staying on track with 10 models/month, I painted these up the other night just to get them out of the way.

2019: 47 painted models (does not include terrain or minor paintjobs on stuff like Star Wars armada miniatures, etc.)

I may never even use these guys but they work as a crazy sci-fi baddies for future endeavors.

Chaos Terminator Lord

Not super excited with the result (my dip is going bad and I'm resisting buying new stuff...) but here is First Captain Astrakos - an evil doer of generous proportions.  Inspired by an old John Blanche kit-bash from the 2nd edition Chaos Codex.  I will probably print a pretty banner for him later to replace the scribbled one.

Chaos Terminator - of some sort?

Another simple figure for 2019.  A recovered Terminator (originally an Inquisitor model).  Will be used as either a Chaos Sorcerer or a Chaos Lord in terminator armour.  Not super happy with the end result, but it looks fine at table-top distances.

Siegemaster Tropios Juut

I received a Master of Relics from a buddy for Christmas, a mini I had asked about.

Cool mini, but cast in god-awful Finecast (something I shant bother with again).  I build him up as a simple Chaos Lord to guide and control my backfield artillery and siege units.

Slow progress...

Been in a painting slump lately.  Have managed to finish an Imperial Missionary (for story and campaign purposes), and a squad of Chaos Chosen (Renegade Space Marine Veterans).

2019 off to a slow start...

After a rather long hiatus from painting/building, I quickly painted up two Dark Eldar Khymarae and one Imperial Navigator.

The Khymarae will serve as Chaos Spawn for my CSM --- they're cool designs and awful miniatures, fragile crap resin from GW.  I don't imagine they'll last more than a game or two before various parts start breaking.  The poor resin quality meant I left the dip on rather heavy and didn't flat coat it...hoping to hide the sub-quality stuff underneath.

New Dark Apostle

He's all about Apostling.  You can even ask him.

This was a figure I sold for a friend on commission a while back.  I hadn't seen this Chaplain model before and really liked it, so I subsequently ordered a used one off eBay to make into a more appropriate Dark Apostle (evil Chaplain).  I had previously done a different Dark Apostle before deciding that I would have Death Guard styled Nurgle adherents.

This is a more suitable model, so the other one will become a generic Chaos Lord or a champion of some sort.

The camera doesn't like this guy, but he looks okay in person.

As 2018 creeps toward its sunset...I snapped a picture of the current Wandering Sons Renegade Space Marine Chapter (and their less-than-savory accompaniment of daemons).

Ordered some dreadnought bits a couple days ago on eBay.  Received the bits yesterday...bashed up some extra doo-dads and finished this guy by noon today.  Not bad for a 24 hour turnaround.  Presenting...Arakos, dreadnought of the Wandering Sons (read: Renegade Helbrute).

And alongside Syvotus, my first dreadnought.
