15mm Panzer IV's...a test.

I've ordered some kits to make a small German opfor to oppose my Soviets at Kursk (and to face other buddies on occasion).  The idea is a Fallschirmjaeger based force.  However, I did pick up the "Hit the Beach" German stuff for super cheap.  I gave away the infantry and decided to try painting some German armour.

Overall...not stoked with the result, will probably add a drybrush layer in later versions to brighten them - dunno.

Anyway, I built up the three Panzer IV Ausf. H models from that box.  Sadly they have built in zimmerit coating...but I'll be able to ignore that.

Decals will be added at a later date when I actually acquire some!

The unending defenses...

I may have gotten carried away and done several more trenches/bunkers for Battlegroup.

A small mortar pit, an open-backed observation post, and a large log bunker complex with some fighting pits alongside.
The center piece here comes with a removable roof.  All the fighting positions have been sized for certain FoW style bases - ensuring a basic squad base will fit in most spaces.
The rear spot is occupied by a mortar, the front by a smaller officer base.
The larger bunker complex can hold quite a few miniatures.
The small mortar pit could be used to "dig in" a T-34...in a pinch.  Doesn't look great though.
Another shot of the bunker complex.

The mortar pit with...gasp...a mortar!

Dungeon crawling and the room of impossible zombies...

Got in two games of testing the dungeon crawl today.  We started our first game...and were ambushed on the staircase.  Luckily it was a troll who we bribed so he'd leave us alone.  Entering the room we encountered a pack of ghouls, backed up by a slowly growing horde of zombies.

The danger here was that zombies generate each turn - so if you're not hacking them down, the horde grows...endlessly.  We had to fight single-file through the ghoul pack.  Eventually we slowly hacked our way into the zombies - with the Dwarf leading the way.

Eventually, after maybe thirty minutes of game play, we finally cleared the room of the zombies.  In the end we slew perhaps 35-40 zombies (from an original number of seven!).  A thoroughly difficult first Chamber!

More Battlegroup.

I've been hammering out little silly projects at my desk for the past few days.  Almost all of these have been related to Battlegroup - with some plans for larger games of Kursk coming up.

A Forward Aid Post...kit-bashed from some junk and spare figures.
Two additional Maxim MG teams and two lend-lease halftracks - one of which is set as an ambulance.

A little Zvezda 1/144 Po-2 bi-plane for scouting out the baddies!

I scratch built three trenches(?), dug in positions, etc.  These will serve as many things in Battlegroup (trenches, foxholes, gun and mortar pits, etc.)
