"Players, please report for dungeoneering."

Another playtest today of the dungeon game...and yes you're going to see a lot of this pop up on the blog - sorry!  There's no shortcut around what may turn into six months of playtesting.

In the Quest Room things become...heated as the Orcs nearly beat Tod to death (our wonderful and stalwart Man-at-Arms ally)...and the Cockatrix freezes our Wizard.
In the first Chamber we're greeted by some Skeletons which we dispatch relatively easily.
We stumble into some hapless Goblins and dispatch them rather quickly.
We barge into the Quest Room.  Luckily one of our encounters is Brigands and we're able to pay them off - again!
 Setting up the table
Having acquired our goal (a King's magical sword) we make our way for the exit but run into a Sorcerer.  A magical duel takes place...and then a Dwarf splits the Sorcerer's head open with his axe.

Our party for this adventure consists of John's Dwarf, Ashley's Elf, a Wizard named Liv, my Thief, and our allied Man-at-Arms...the legend himself, Tod.

Battlemaster inspired Barbarian Archer!

So, when I picked up the Shadespire barbarian box, I immediately noticed one figure which screamed "homage" to me.  This archer fella.  It immediately made me think of the Chaos Archer from the old Battlemasters game from the mid-90's.

I requested a picture of the box art from Facebook and people delivered.  So I made a "nod" to the old figure.  I didn't match the tattoos or the hair perfectly, but it was fun.  I wish there were a few more elements I could have tied in.

The original painted figure from the back of the Battlemasters box.

The finished product.

Lady with spear!

So for the dungeon crawl, I'll be doing up a male and female version of each of my hero classes.  The first one I have on hand for the ladies is a female barbarian from GW's shadespire box.

Introducing: Tod, Legendary Man-at-Arms.

Got in a good playtest tonight for CCC.  Highlights below (only a couple pics though!)

Our group (Wizard, Dwarf, Elf, and Thief) managed to reach the Quest room and escape.  We freed a captive lady (who turned out to be a bearded woman...), and rescued Man-at-Arms Tod from a room filled with terrible spiders (who almost slew my Thief - reducing me to one wound!)

My Thief made use of his Eelskin boots to explore a flooded chamber while the others waited.  We entered the final Quest Room to find: 1) a treasure - hurrah!, 2) A group of Brigands, and 3) an evil Crone.

We actually had enough crowns to payoff the Brigands and they departed...then we slew the Crone.  Tod charged forward bravely and stabbed her in the gut while the Wizard fireballed her.  The Elf finished her off with an arrow to the eye socket.

My Thief spent most of the Quest clinging to Tod and hiding because I was walking around on one wound for waaaay too long.  I did eventually trade for some Boiled Meats from the Dwarf and recovered....slightly.

All in all a good playtest.

Dungeon Baddies...or Heroes?

A couple more dungeon minis in the un-ending wave.

A Reaper metal Wizard who is quite lovely, and a slightly old-sculpt looking skeleton.

The near-disaster giant...

I picked up a Giant Jailer from Reaper recently (in Bones plastic), and chopped of its chain and reduced its weapon to an additional dagger.  I was pretty happy with the sculpt until I primed it.  For the first time I had my Bones go a bit tacky...but I just tackled it anyway with normal paint.

Likewise my dip has...truly gone, but I was too anxious to hold off.  While he looks better in person and in a dungeon than in pictures, this was only an 85% success for me...

Dungeon Playtest: Ageerrrrn.

Had another playtest today of the dungeon crawler.  The hero part was able to find and slay a large monster that was grabbing people from under their garderobes!

Big Booms in Drake's Branch

A three-way struggle today for gang and posse recruitment ended up in a general blood bath...

Shoot N' Skedaddle, custom scenario.
