I've been really struggling with hobby motivation lately. I ended up forcing myself to paint another squad of Warp Spiders. End result? Pretty heinous eye-bleaching colours. I started with a vague idea in my head and it simply never came through on the miniatures. I'll keep them and use them, but this kind of result is not helping my hobby-mind set...
I got these guys used and nasty on eBay:
I was expecting much worse from the descriptor 'eye bleaching'. I feel like they are redeemable. I suspect there is a bit too much yellowing. I think some of the accent colours (particularly the browny-orange tassels)are pulling the palette the wrong way. The top plate of the war generator somehow doesn't 'fit' in my mind.....too neutral perhaps? Maybe hit a colour wheel and pull some antagonistic colours to the yellow? Or some purple call backs to your major craftworld theme. The head could be lightened a bit too perhaps? Or, you know, call it a day and find something you'd like to paint.
ReplyDeleteNice rehab job on those Spiders- they turned out well.
