The gang's (almost) all here...

With a post-apocalyptic gang game on the way, my buddy's got a hardon for Necromunda, so we're using that setting and the models as the test-bed for the game.  So far, it's worked a treat.

I'm not overly enthused by the new Necromunda model ranges, but I opted for a couple Orlocks to get started.  Since we're not playing Necromunda I can kit-bash and arm them however the hell I want (inline with the new game rules of course!).

Games!: Unnamed post-apoc game...thing...Notcromunda?

As the sister game to Merciless my new fantasy/medieval skirmish game I'm developing the post-apocalyptic sister game.  We jokingly refer to it as Notcromunda at the moment because we're mainly playing in the GW IP with models, etc.

We played a simple scenario...that I was winning until a random Ambot showed up and ripped three of my six gang members in half... :(

Games!: Battlegroup Kursk

Just a few (poor) pictures of a Battlegroup game from the other week.  Some more hobby progress to post a little later, so stay tuned!

Blood spills in Merciless

Played two "three player" games of Merciless today and...violence occurred.

The table was a maze of death.

Only a few pics mid-game as I was awfully busy getting my ass kicked.

Chaos Warriors to lead the beastmen...

I snagged a box from Warhammer Underworlds recently to paint up a couple of Chaos Warriors.  I'll only be painting three of the four minis from the box, but these are the first two - quite happy with them.  Sadly my camera isn't working right, so I snapped these pictures with my phone and I don't think it does them justice!

I went back and snapped some simpler pictures which show off the minis better...

More beastmen...and some "not" Necromunda.

Five more beastman 'Ungors'.  Adding skirmishers to my warband for Merciless.

Today we managed to get in three test games of 'Deep Hive' which is a modification of the Merciless rules I'm writing to game Necromunda in a faster/more interesting style.

The beastmen arise...

I decided to assemble a beastman/chaos style warband for playing my new skirmish game, Merciless.

I grabbed the beastmen from the recent Beastgrave box for Warhammer Underworlds, and one additional metal beastman I recovered from eBay.  Have a box of "ungors" (satyrs) on the way as well.

Skirmishing with some Necromunda models.

In a weird version of "taking a break from designing the dungeon crawl"...I made up a new rule set for fantasy skirmish.  We then immediately ported the idea over to Necromunda so my buddy could get some use out of his table and figures.

So I took a break from designing a game...to design two other games...?

Anyway, just a couple pictures from the Necromunda game.

More dungeon dwellers...

I've been off the painting train for a while.  I stripped down some old miniatures, rebased and reprimed them, and finally painted a few this past few days.

Some of these were painted recently, and other ones were painted back at the start of the dungeon crawl project.

Reaper Bones Black Monk.
Otherworld Miniatures 'Mule Handler'
Another Otherworld Miniatures henchman miniature with an alternate head slapped on.

Some skirmishes...

I haven't made much in the way of hobby progress this past half month.  Mainly I've been gaming (a solid excuse) and working on game design, including a quick project I decided to begin.

Some playtesting has occured.

Busting out the old Mordheim terrain!
Four warbands sneaking through the ruins looking for trouble.
Some fighters have just finished off an opponent.
My captain challenges another captain to a single combat on the bridges above.

The project is a simple deck-driven skirmish game for medieval or fantasy miniatures.  Just a quick side-project that may or may not find a place in our stable of games.

I did acquire and paint (very simply and quickly) some cheap 3D printed battlemechs in case I join some of my friends who have started playing Battletech lately.  Followers of the blog know I sold off massive collections of plastic Battletech mechs a while ago - but these new 3D prints are much nicer designs.  The ones I have are pretty mediocre print-quality so I spent to time painting them well.  Just a quick paint, wash, drybrush.

Left to right: Dervish, Jenner, Archer and Crab.
