Rivani, Iconic Psychic (Reaper Miniatures)

Just finished up another adventurer/NPC, a really nice levitating miniature.  She'll go really well with the other two Arab/Indian-esque miniatures I've done (at one point I was going to do an Arabic/Indian themed Mordheim warband...which is why I picked up these minis!).

Really liked this miniature, super easy to paint - definitely a digital sculpt if I had to guess.

Caerindra Thistlemoor, Reaper Mini

Another optional hero for the dungeon crawl, this time a lady warrior figure; Caerindra Thistlemoor.

Unfortunately there was some flash/mis-casting on her face, but it's not super noticeable.

We survived two quests in a row. No, really.

As I'm narrowing down the card designs for my dungeon crawl game, it's been time to start moving onto writing the rulebook, the scenarios and most importantly the story-driven campaign element.  To this effect, I've started playtesting intro scenarios, etc.  So today my buddy Josh and I started a "campaign".

We ran the first quest, then went through the story elements to run a second quest...and we actually survived!  Admittedly it was down to sheer luck, mostly, but we did it!

I actually took a few pictures this time - not many, because...you know I'm terrible at taking pictures mid-game.

In Quest run, our party runs into cultists of some nameless God.

The Wizard, lagging behind is cut off and jumped by two cultists.

At the front of the party, the Warrior and Barbarian fight back to back against this new devilry!

After a decent scrap, the heroes finally corner the last cultists in a narrow passage and slay him!

In the second room of Quest two our party runs into tentacles and goblins...a lot of goblins.  We actually survived this somehow and completed the quest!

I forgot, I also finally painted up this Wyvern I'd picked up a while ago - nice critter though I struggle to get a decent picture of it!

Zayafid, Reaper Mini

Trying to pull myself out of one of those "you don't know how to paint and you suck" funks.

This is Zayafid, a Reaper mini I've had on hand for maybe a year or two.  Happy with the result, and I like the miniature.  A great monk or caster, or even just a warrior.  Perhaps a good figure to take on the role of Ahmed Ibn Fahadlan from The 13th Warrior?

The Babar-ian?

A 3D printed elephant man I picked up off Etsy.  Sadly I just can't get a good picture of it, but this will do.  On a 35-40mm sized base he's a biggun.

Apparently people post on my blog (read: I'm an idiot).

I've been running this blog since maybe 2014...and I never look at stats.  I used to get the occasional email when someone would reply to a blog post - but I don't receive emails anymore.  I never gave it a second thought.

It turns out I have 70+ blog comments that were submitted...awaiting moderation.  I never even clicked on that portion of my blog.

I want to take a moment to apologize to everyone from...2018(?) and up who has posted a question or critique or compliment.  I've absolutely not seen the comments...and thus I never answered a single question or thanked anyone for commenting!

I'm going through them now...so I apologize if you get a hobby question answered that is two years old!

I will now actually check my comments when I log in...like a normal person.

C.I.I.C. (Chief Idiot in Charge)

"Your village sir, it is broken..."

Spent a couple of sessions getting these little guys put together.  Just some destroyed cabins from 4Ground.  I added thatch roofs, some additional paint, and some scattered bits of wood to the damaged areas.

Games!: Dungeon Crawl after revisions...death in the dungeon!

Got some more play-testing in...and our party was suitably wrecked.  I don't think we played our best but luck was also definitely not with us this time!

Just cleaning up some Zombies...(we screwed the pooch here and ended up having to kill about thirty of them!)
Toward the end, we didn't have enough money to bribe the Troll so we decided to run past it - the next chamber (which had an exit)...we were caught by Spiders and a Stone Golem and just called it quits...our entire party massacred.
Our first game, we ended up getting severely whupped by simple Cultists...our dice rolling was terrible!
The Barbarian, 'Gwar' just charges the second he sees a line of verminkind.
In our first game, suffering losses we ended up fleeing from Orcs who kicked our teeth in pretty well.
Fighting a pack of rather well behaved ghouls (they didn't kill themselves this time!)
A quick dungeon set up for the playtesting.
The rest of the party catches up to 'Gwar' and we engage in a slugfest with the verminkind.

Surely we'll do better this time, right?

Games!: Shoot N' Skedaddle - a bad day for lawbreakers.

A game of SnS with my usual RPG group.  It went...poorly for the Outlaws (myself and a buddy)

Outlaws trying to skirt around the town toward the Sheriff's office...
The fisticuffs occurring in the train station get even more heated as the Prize Fighter runs into the action.
The Outlaws are charging toward the Sheriff's office...with limited time to free their prostitute friend.
A Soldier and an elderly Judge are waiting for the incoming trouble...
The blood must flow...and so it does.
The Deadly Pistolero, leader of the Outlaws finds himself alone, but guns down several Lawmen who try to corner him.
Both the Older and Younger Brother within the Outlaw gang find themselves wounded by Lawmen gunfire.
A Bodyguard from the Lawmen Posse is beating people to death in the foyer of the train station...
Even at an early stage, the Outlaws are doing...poorly.

A Lawmen Cowboy single-handedly blunts the Outlaw's move on his side of town.  Blazing away with a lever action gun from a window he wounds several of them.
Outlaws get surrounded by Lawmen reinforcements.  The local town turns hostile, banning them from one of the buildings.

The Lawmen never needed to actually prevent the prostitute from being rescued - they never made it near the Sheriff's office.
A soldier puts down the Mountain Man at distance...

Slaughter at Kryzeh

Had a game of Battlegroup over the weekend with a buddy.  500 points of Kursk Germans vs. my Soviets.

It did not end well for the Soviets, sadly.

Early in the game my Soviets are rushing to get out of a bottle neck as the German Tiger Ace is rolling forward.

The German armour moves up, safe with the knowledge that the Tiger Ace is covering the Soviet position.
My 82mm mortars were hugely inconsistent and I got very little proper use out of them despite firing them most turns.
The Germans seize an objective early game and hold it all game.
The BA-10 and T-34 which captured my first objective are shot to pieces as the Tiger Ace arrives on the table.
My token draws included...five(!) 4's in a row to start the game, followed by an air strike which didn't actually show up.
The Soviet formation is shot to pieces and struggles to accomplish much at all.
The Tiger Ace rolls forward (Fun fact: this is a miniature that I built for my buddy - oh the sorrow!)
Another dead T-34...
A pair of Zis-3's tries to counter German armour, but range and fences keep them from properly killing much.
